Cyprus Permanent Residency Category F

By purchasing a property in Cyprus of any value, you may be eligible to apply for  a Permanent  Residence Permit under Category F.

Key Requirements

Annual Income

Applicants must have a secured annual income from abroad, sufficient to support a comfortable standard of living in Cyprus without engaging in any business or employment within the Republic.

The minimum required income is:

  • €9,568 for the main applicant
  • €4,613 for each dependent

This income must originate from abroad and may include salaries, pensions, dividends, interest from deposits, rental income, or similar sources.

Bank Deposit in Cyprus

Applicants must maintain a bank account with a financial institution in Cyprus. A deposit of approximately €15,000–€20,000 is typically required. This amount is not pledged and may be used after the application has been submitted.

Property Purchase

Applicants must purchase a property in Cyprus of any value, including resale properties. The funds used for the purchase are not required to be transferred from abroad.

Family Members

The application may include:

  • The applicant’s spouse
  • Dependent children up to 18 years old

Permanent residency for minor children remains valid until they reach the age of 18. Children aged 18 and above must submit a separate application. Parents of the applicant cannot be included as dependents.

Important Considerations

Employment Restrictions

Holders of a Category F Permanent Residence Permit are not permitted to engage in any form of employment, business, or professional activity in Cyprus.

Validity & Cancellation

The permit may be cancelled if:

  • The applicant does not relocate to Cyprus within one year of approval
  • The applicant resides outside Cyprus for a continuous period of two years
  • Permanent residency is obtained in another country

Travel Limitations

This permit is valid only within Cyprus and does not grant visa-free travel to other EU Member States. However, Cyprus is in the process of joining the Schengen Area. Upon accession, permit holders are expected to benefit from access to Schengen countries, subject to applicable regulations at that time.

Application Processing Time

As of June 2024, applications are accepted but not currently being processed by the Immigration Department. Therefore, processing timelines cannot be estimated at this stage.

Application Procedure

The applicant’s physical presence in Cyprus is not required during the examination of the application. However, if the applicant and their family wish to reside in Cyprus while the application is pending, they must apply separately for a Temporary Residence Permit (Visitor status).
